6.        Contract description

The objective is to procure all the terminal (nodal) transmission, data networking, power and testing equipment for an Optical Fibre Data Network (OFDN) in the Republic of Belarus.

The network equipment shall be supplied for the benefit of the Belarusian Border Guard and Customs Services (the State Border Committee, SBC, and State Customs Committee, SCC, of the Republic of Belarus respectively), supporting the integrated information systems (IISs) of the SBC and SCC along the Belarusian border with Poland, Lithuania and Latvia.

The network equipment shall be a part of a future data network capable of supporting a wide range of simultaneous digital voice, video and high-speed data services and is to be provided by means of two contracts: a supply contract for the nodal equipment (which is the subject of this tender forecast) and a related works contract for the provision of the optical-fibre links between nodes (will be tendered separately from this procedure).
